| This lot was recorded 1998-99 after my return to work (5 years as a certified looney), in which time I was living in Wood End, Coventry with bugger-all money, lol. I used a knackered old, second-hand 4-track, a Boss DR-110 drum machine and the guitars to get these tracks down and then mixed them down onto MiniDisc. | ||
| Don't Get Too Down | 3.5MB | |
| Far From Round | 3MB | Last track recorded before I moved in with Shirley (much older lover). The rhythmic rustling noise was me moving my arse on a bean-bag! |
| Get Down | 2.5MB | My take on an old Gilbert O'Sullivan hit |
| Gold Card | 5.5MB | About Jackie Evans. A lesbian barmaid that used to work at the Courtyard in Coventry. She took her own life. This is my tribute, so the guitar is on the line between heart-wrenching and cheesy. Listen loud, on red wine, late at night on your own... |
| Hard To Try | 3.5MB | |
| Life's Too Long | 5MB | |
| Lively Girl | 2.5MB | Silly song about a Muslim girl I knew for a while whose nickname was "Taz". Work it out. |
| Maybe | 3.5MB | |
| Motivation | 4MB | Written while I was a mental health support worker. One of my clients had just killed himself and there was various other shit going on. |
| Puppy Love | 3MB | The old Osmonds hit! lol (I actually worked out the chords to this by listening to an old 'Pinky & Perky' LP!!! |
| Space Oddity | 4.5MB | The old Bowie hit! |
| Stacy | 2.5MB | |
| Sugar Baby Love | 3.5MB | The old Rubettes hit! |
| The Next Thing | 3MB | Track written by another client, Steve Griffiths. I played this to him in hospital after he'd drunk bleach and jumped off a bridge, resulting in a shattered pelvis and legs. He liked it. He killed himself. |
| Walk On The Wild Side | 5MB | Cover of the Lou Reed tune. You can hear the nylon-strung acoustic that Shirley's (almost) son-in-law stole after we split. Bastard! |
| Welcome To My World | 2.5MB | Eddy Arnold? Jim Reeves? (Had the flu when I recorded this one. Done and dusted from idea to mixdown in 12 hours) |
| Why Do You Talk | 4MB | Cover (not wonderful) of a Lou Reed track. |
