Clericus Cup... Father Ted was a documentary!

Thursday, March 13, 2008

Couldn't believe that there really and truly is a footballing priest tournament a'la Father Ted! However seeing is believing and after a jolly Yahoo natter with Valentina I had confirmation from a confirmed Piedmont beauty!

A footballing priest from Burkina Faso has been sent off in a church tournament for throwing his shirt at the referee in Italy.
The incident happened in the Clericus Cup over the weekend with the actions of the priest leading to Paul the Apostle's College being eliminated.
Italian sports officials had expressed hopes that the tournament held at the Vatican City will help restore a positive image of football in Italy, which has been marred by recent violence.
The Clericus Cup is an international football tournament including Catholic priests and seminarians.
There are 16 teams made up of the various catholic colleges and
church congregations in Vatican City. There is also a team made up of the Pope's bodyguards, the Swiss guards.

I've uploaded Pink And Fluffy. Silly marching song knocked off in a week. Could be better, but the whole ethos at the mo is to motor on lickety-split to keep the momentum. Another three or four ditties are in progress.

All change in spring once more! Of course all the rent/benefits stuff whirls around at this time of year but in addition the NHS Trust has redrawn the areas and indeed gone from three to two geographical teams. Result? New Consultant, new ASW, any 'groups' or whatever are likely to get reshuffled around the week and quite probably restaffed. Not to mention losing good old Jenni 'J' the OTT to inpatient activities.

Why do they all conspire to dump all this upheaval on us in one morass?

While I'm here I'll give a word of thanks to Denny, Jenny and Kelly for their kindly words of encouragement regarding my noisy daubs.

Off to microwave a carrot...

Wound Up And Ready To Play... at last

Thursday, March 06, 2008

A morning's PC dabbling and a download of FileZilla FTP and I've just about got everything working tolerably well again after the Host rejigged things at their end. Thus Destroy And Be Free is uploaded on the MP3 page for your downloading delectation and I can blog again too. Hoo-flipping-rah!

May well have another, rather chirpy ditty up here within the week...

Just heard the sad news about the fire in Lounge cafe/bar in Novi Sad. Tragic that 8 people should die like that.

Seven people are dead, three are severely wounded after a blaze engulfed a café in Novi Sad early this morning.Serbian Interior Ministry, MUP, Protection and Rescue Department chief Predrag Mari? told B92 that the fire was localized, while the three survivors are treated for their serious injuries in a local clinic. An on-duty judge said the investigation was ongoing, adding that the cause of the deadly blaze will be know during the day. "A fire broke out at approximately 02:00 this morning in the Lounge café in 10 Zmaj Jovina St., Novi Sad. Firefighters were called in at 02:05. They responded in one minute and 30 seconds, arriving at the scene. They were engaged in localizing and putting out the fire during the following 40 minutes," Mari? explained. Seven people have so far been confirmed dead, but the MUP has not yet revealed their identities. Doctors at the Vojvodina Clinical Center in Novi Sad told B92 that one of the three seriously wounded persons was in a critical condition. (From B92.net.eng)

and here:
18 Feb 2008 ... NOVI SAD -- Vladan D., 27 has succumbed to the severe burns from the Novi Sad cafe fire which broke out Sunday morning. Café Lounge caught ...

You may know that Lounge was run by my friend's brother. Indeed I supplied green jasmine tea to Lounge for a while. Very, very sad indeed.

My insignificant news will wait a while.
