June Bride

Sunday, June 26, 2005

Ok, so as usual you guys are among the first to know my important news so here's another titbit. On Wednesday self and Jit got up at 4am (yawn) to get down to the Central School of Speech & Drama in London. Upshot of the discussion was that they haven't got going on the accessibility issues and stuff, so to cut a long story short, they have, for the first time ever, given a guaranteed deferred place for Autumn 2006. Whilst initially dissappointing it actually makes great sense, especially as they're giving Jit the reading list in a few weeks in order that she can get a head start (dyslexia thing). Obviously we had to rethink the marriage blah and so have decided to get wed in June 2006, thus getting the moving stress and settling in stress over by the time she starts studies in Sept/Oct. I'll be moving to Willenhall obviously as the bungalow is kitted out with disability mods and shit. Anyway, it'll be great to be back in the West Mids again and Willenhall, whilst looking like a god-forsaken hole at first glance is actually like a little village and everyone is really friendly (relative to Leeds at least!!!!). So I'm a happy bunny. Makes yer sick right?

No blog till Weekend

Tuesday, June 21, 2005

Off to Willenhall (near Wolverhampton) till the weekend, hence no blog action. Tomorrow Jit has a meeting at the Central School of Speech and Drama where she'll be studying for 18 months, so I'm going down (snigger) and we'll make it a day out.

Gotta get going cuz I'm having my stitches out this morning.

Mixed Emotions

Sunday, June 19, 2005

Jit's finished her studies at Leeds Met so next stop Central School of Speech and Drama in London. This last week has been a little mad: up in Leeds packing up her stuff, getting introduced to all her mates and her twin in a social whirl and kicking "disability access" ass! Yo! Right!

To explain, when one has only one good hand due to the Carpal Tunnel op, a manual wheelchair and you're going to leave this place, seldom to return... well one can kick up some real shit with no fear! Hahahahah!!!! (Revenge of the tiddlypeeps).

To summarise:

  • Whitelocks pub, Turks Head Yard, Briggate, Leeds. Licensee Mr Darren "tit-head" Hancock, owned by the Spirit Group. A big "fuck you" for not being arsed to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, namely failing to make reasonable adjustments to allow disabled access and thus discriminating and causing a public safety hazard thereby providing a lower standard of service to disabled patrons in contravention of said Act of Parliament.
  • Leeds Central Library: just mad, really mad. Have to join the library and deposit one's library card before one can use the toilets! What's that about?
  • Yates's: for thinking that it's reasonable to have a rusty old wheelchair lift outside the pub... with no intercom or doorbell thus necessitating my beloved depositing her wheelchair, crawling up the stairs and across the pub's serving area in order to alert a member of staff to get the lift turned on. Oh how dignified!
  • Jessops Leeds for being totally inept and ignorant of the value of customer service.

But!!!!!!....... In contrast, a roll of honour for the good places and people in Leeds!:

  • F.A.B. (or Fab) bar. Cheap booze, pickled onion Space Invaders, cool tunes, disabled bog and really nice bar staff.
  • Walkabout. Easy access, cheap beer (especially the vanilla Mudshakes at £1), top nosh, disabled bog, lovely staff (even leant me a stapler!) and plenty of room to arse about with the electric wheelchair! Rotflol!!
  • Cockpit: an honorary mention for being a top venue with only about five steps and cool bouncers. Just a shame that the manager couldn't be arsed to answer either my e-mail or another disabled bod's phonecalls re: access.
  • Room: absolutely top restaurant.
  • Peacocks: for having funky clothes that actually fit me and Jit and having large fitting rooms that will (just) take me, Jit and the electric chair....
  • Cool homeless guys who were much more caring and helpful than the twatty breadhead staff of certain licensed premises one could mention... oh, I did mention them, above!

Ok, I guess that's enough Leeds stuff for now.

The hand is healing up pretty well despite the abuse it's had this past week and stitches are coming out on Tuesday.

Loads more to blog including family shit but I really can't be arsed after getting up at 6.30am to clean/pack Jit's student accommodation ready for her departure followed by the hottest coach journey in history back home etc etc etc.

Huge snogs to Rita and her partner (hope you enjoy the cd), Carla and anyone else that's genuinely nice and considerate.

Ciao fer now....

Sonic Hospital CD finally in production

Saturday, June 11, 2005

You may remember that last autumn I had a rather large response top my offer of a "free cd" and since then I've been dogged by depression, suicidal ideation and a shitty old e-machine PC. Well thankfully my health has turned something of a corner and I have a cool Dell with a much faster burner so... I've so far knocked out 10 copies of a double cd and am prioritising by offering them to those who have shown the most interest and/or been supportive over the past few months. Will be burning more soon and will work through the list as time and £££'s allow.

I'm off to Leeds in a couple of hours and will finally get to meet Jit's twin on Monday in Manchester.

Off to do ironing and packing.

Rezillos video!

Thursday, June 09, 2005

Here's the Rezillos video! A fast connection would be good as it's 20mb+. I'm sending the whole gig to the band in case they fancy distributing it.

Emergency, we met Dennis the vocal guy on Sunday and he's such a great guy!

Btw, this is my new cool as fuck guitar. Orgasmic or what? Plays great and I've wanted one since I was about 11!!!!

Cool as fuck!

Tuesday, June 07, 2005

Ok, so we picked up the engagement ring on Saturday and got the National Express to Leeds. Problem no.1 arises, i.e. Jit's finger has swollen up by Sunday morning. Luckily the girl in Boots directs us to the Earnest Jones and we order a re-grind.
I've had my Carpal Tunnel surgery, today actually. No real pain just lost of pulling and whatnot. Apparently I have an "exceptionally tight tunnel" rotflol! So I'm one-handed and the surgeon did make the obligatory "playing with yourself" joke! Teehee!
Jit (fiance, got a 2:2 degree btw, cool eh?).
We got to see the Rezillos on Sunday at Cockpit in Leeds. Not a bad venue and I avoided getting chucked out whilst remonstrating with the tit that poured his pint in Jit's wheelchair.... There were 3 bands on. Emergency (80's punk/oi) some spotty youths called A+B or summat and.... the Rezillos! A great night was had by all! We got chatting with the lead singer of Emergency and I managed to video the whole Rezillos set! So a cool night was had by all. Prolly post some video at some point.

Snog you later!

NHS buggers-up our plans...

Thursday, June 02, 2005

Two bleeding appointments next week with 7 days notice!. There's us about to go to Leeds on Saturday, see the Rezillos on Sunday, GF's twin and hubby in Manchester on Monday and her Uni mates through the week and I get the Psych appointment on Monday and the Carpal Tunnel wrist-slashing on the Tuesday. Bum! Anyhow we sorted it and I'm going to cram the lot in some-fucking-how. I mean I've been on the Rezillos waiting list for 27 years rather than the NHS's few months! lol.
We got engaged at the Moon, lol, which is a pub as you may have guessed. Pretty spontaneous affair and we are waiting for the right size ring. BTW Hi JCB, disdn't realise you read the blog!
GF met the mother on Wednesday and both of them were "nervous as kittens", rotflol! After a few minutes they got on like a house on fire.
So things are finally falling back into place after fuck-knows how many months so the plan is to get my shit together over the summer then reassess the work options in the Autumn cuz GF is prolly doing a course in London for 18 months starting then.
Mother looked amazing after having her bionic knee fitted. Can't remember her being so fit and fun-loving almost in living-memory! Amazing!
So cool things are hapenning again.
Blog more soon, maybe with photies and videos if I can be arsed.
Have to go to the pre-nuptial bed now! ;o)
