Back on the Wagon

Tuesday, August 31, 2004

Off the bevvies and back on the diet again.

I got so pissed off with the O2 people, they've been phoning all the time again just cuz I've terminated the contract. I know it's them cuz they hang up on me (using an auto-dialler cild calling thingummy). So decided to divert all calls to an O2 shop, hehehe snigger snigger!!!

Nought special otherwise except a mountain of ironing and housework ready for my return to work on Thursday. It'll be a nice easy day, on the train to Nottingham for the day. Be a little strange I guess, having not got the work clothes on for four months. Just better get back to Northampton in time for the curry with Fiona ;o) though knowing my luck I'll get blown out. Keep you posted.

Birthday boy

Saturday, August 28, 2004

The bestest birthday ever, lol. I was so chuffed with all the cool pressies and cards I received on Thursday. Not one was a disappointment and so much thought had gone into them; makes me feel loved :) Dani sent me a 'Rough Guide to Bulgaria' which is just what I wanted really. I love browsing through those books and this will be particularly interesting as I'll be going to Plovdiv/Pazardzhik in 2.5 weeks. Also in Dani's package was another hedgehog for my collection, this time it's a Swedish one from her visit back in the spring. Brother David and family sent me a Stereolab CD from Amazon... how did they know I like them? Abby sent me the updated version of 'Uptight - The Velvet Underground Story' and Jit gave me this groovy photo album with some nice pics and poetry (about moi). Jit also visited overnight Thur/Fri and a fun time was had. I cooked a meal and for starters I made some dips to have with poppadums. Top nosh!

I did fall off the wagon somewhat in terms of drink/food, but should be back on track over the weekend, touch wood. Next Thurs I go back to work. A nice easy day in Nottingham with new boss, genning up and putting together a game plan. Then Thurs night I'm having a curry with the delightful Fiona ;o) probably try Merlins as it's near her home and I've not tried it yet. I'll keep you posted...

Live from Northampton

Back on line with a vengeance after the pooter problems. Past week has been pretty good. I've been on a housework kick, moving furniture, buying cool new stuff (credit is my friend, lol), cleaning everything that doesn't move... and a few things that do..... After three years in this flat I finally bought a bin, mop and bucket for the kitchen and a fridge is arriving tomorrow, my birthday. Yes, my birthday!!! Hint hint ;) The bedroom has a new chest of drawers, the living room has a new coffee table, mirror, pictures and candles plus a cool blind on the window which makes the room look much bigger. I can now sit on/in the huge window ledge for the first time in an age too.

The pooter guy came yesterday with the new fan and sorted the CDRW drive while he was here. I've had pretty good value from that service contract: new hard drive, new TFT monitor, new fan. Next year it'll be time for a new CPU methinks. This one seems a bit sluggish these days, especially with two webcams uploading! Yup, I stuck another webcam online for the hell of it but the processor gets a little shagged out running both of them.

I joined a webring on WebRing.com... but the bastards terminated me for tampering with their banner code. Fuckers! I mean, who the hell wants a garish, totally naff 400 x 100 banner totally ruining the look of their site like a monstrous carbuncle???? I mean all I did with their precious code was to get rid of the graphic and format the remaining links in keeping with my site. All the links were still there. So fuck 'em. Yes WebRing.com. Fuck you and your shitty service!

I'm thinking of starting a WebRing myself as Bravenet don't seem too bothered about folk customising the look of their services. Watch this space....

btw, did I mention it's my birthday tomorrow? I have a moderate stash of cards and a couple of pressies to open from Abby and Dani and Jit has decided to come down for the night with her pressie. Last night I went to the Mumtaz with Jan (physio-ex) for a civilised curry binge. Good to catch up as I haven't seen her since she and Phil got hitched in May.

I had a cunning plan! And it worked! I bought a 6" desktop fan for £9.99, took the cover off the PC, turned the fan up to 11 and stuck it right by the motherboard and.... hey presto! Andy's Celeron is nice and cool again :o))))) (I'd post a pic if I could be arsed). It's kept me up and running for 6 hours so far which is 5 hours 53 minutes longer than I've managed since Tuesday. Heheheheh (mad scientist cackle) the beast! It lives!

Blog more at a reasonable hour.

Special snogs to Emma for gracing me with her presence :o)

Andy got a new phone! Yup, I finally went back to T-Mobile and got another free handset (my collection now stands at six), so a big two-fingered salute to O2 (or whatever the hell they are calling themselves this week). My lovely new Nokia 7250i have 4mb memory, camera, radio, hands-free loadspeaker and lots of other sexy goodies :oPP.

Downside of all this is that I only got paid £107 for a whole fucking month! It's the medical certificate mix-up I'm sure and they better sort it out PDQ as my rent is due in a day or so and that's £360 alone! Grrrrr!!!!! Early morning e-mail has already been despatched to whom it concerns. (Can be quite stressful being off work with stress y'know)
I updated most of my Messenger services on Friday and in doing so found Yemote . It's a cool little program that gives you all the extra Yahoo emoticons at a mouse-click! Go YIM and Yemote!!! The other upshot of all this is that i've met several new chums on Odigo from various parts of Europe :o)))

Weekend away was fun and relaxing (according to Andy's weird definition of fun and relaxing). Did lots of cooking, cleaning and gossipping, lol. Stuck to the booze contract and felt much better for it. In fact the completely booze-free days were the best. On Saturday I surprised Donna by turning up to her Self Harm/Self Injury training in Wolverhampton so I got to be a trainee again for a change, lol. Was good to see Don and Danny again and it was my first step across the threshold of one of our services since April!

Ok, gotta go... the booze-botherers are expecting me!

Special snogs to my Little Sister :o)

Hi Ho! Hi Ho!...

Thursday, August 12, 2004

Andy's going back to work! Had a meeting with the bosses today and negotiated a return to work w/c 30/08/04. All sounds pretty positive and workable and some helpful changes in the offing. Going to do part-time initially till things have settled down and I'm feeling prety good about the arrangement so far. Looks like everything is coming together at last. Just have to sort out the Uni situation. Still have 3 assignments and a portfolio owing... due in 2 weeks! More negotiations with Uni and bosses called for. If I can't get a decent extension I'll risk having to pay back some of the course fee's that the Organisation stumped up :o/ Sure I'll sort summat out.

Razzing off to visit Jit tomorrow so won't be back online till Monday.

btw big raspberry to the GP Surgery for not opening on Thursdays! Bastards! Walked miles in the heat to pick up my prescription in vain, so have to leg it up there first thing tomorrow.

Not a lot else to report really, but good to feel happier about myself, the future and life in general.

Oh yeah, 8 days on the wagon now and lost some weight too! :o))))

Sexy veg, Kazaa and Abstinence

Sunday, August 08, 2004

Sexy, gorgeous fruit and veg! mmmmmmm!!!! Had a quiet week after last weekends relapse. In fact I've been on the wagon for 5 days... it's a record!!! Go me! Not sure exactly what flicked the switch in my head but it's partly due to being sick of apologising for stupid things I've said and done while pissed, partly I'm sick of breaking/burning things (like my Sunday lunch), partly the weight it puts on me and partly the annoying tart that takes my Tuesday group who is judgemental, patronising, supercillious etc etc e.g. when talking about things we can do instead of having a bevvie one guy talks about riding his bike. She trys to make the point that that would not suit everyone and so asks ME if I have a bike. "Yes" I reply and she's like "Really!!?? You DO surprise me". Fuck her! Like I feel like shit already today and now you're taking the piss cuz I'm overweight! Not as fucking OBESE as you are; you blubbery, happy-clappy tub of lard!!!! Anyhow, been a good boy since then, taking advantage of the gorgeous, sexy, seasonal fruit and veg at Northampton's outdoor market. See those luscious red, sweet vine tomatoes; lust after those firm, phallic courgettes; ogle those soft, furry apricots; and just peel one of those erotic lychees.... excuse me, I'm typing one-handed again....

Heard that guy in San Francisco being interviewed on World Service last night. You know, the guy that faked the beheading video. I just love the fact that all he did was put it in his "shared files" folder and it whizzed of into Kazaa and the P2P community grapevine triggered the Al Jazeera story which was reported as fact around the world, lol! Don't get any ideas now kiddies... teehee, oh go on then!!!

Jit's sister is getting married today, in fact I guess she will be by now. From the txt I got yesterday it sounds as though most of the fears about the two families being shitty about it were a little overstated. It's one of those racial/cultural issues, you know? The two families only met for the first time yesterday! Can you believe that? Oh well, as long as it works out I guess.

My 'little sister' Dani had no elcticity for two days lasty week! Poor lamb! Glad it's back on now. Only 5 weeks to Bulgaria :o)

And if you are feeling at all depressed... let those cheerful Japanese patronise you! lol
Hope you chaps out there are good too and hopefully I'll be less annoying without all the loopy-juice. (Just have to see if I can keep it up when I'm back at work... but I'll jump off that bridge when I come to it.)

btw Thanks 2 Kathy for the support (and the cd's) xoxoxo
btw2 I'm already pissed off with the Olympics!
btw3 Loved that Hindi film 'Devdas' today. (Mushy old romantic!)

Can's of Tramp Juice, 9%

Monday, August 02, 2004

Ok, ok... so I had a bit of a relapse yesterday. Please give me a huge slap! Why did it occur? Mainly I wanted a buzz but prob occurred at the shop that had a special offer blah, blah, blah so I bought enough for two days! yay! You can imagine the rest...

This is my shit, so I'll leave it there.

Nice to hear from Sladja and even better to hear that she is going to Bulgaria soon! Maybe we will meet up?

Vale is still enjoying her receptionist job... despite her faux paux in the English Language! Hahahahah! I'm sure her mistakes are not as bad as she believes! hahaha! In any case, she is a lovely friend of mine!!!! m'k????

Everybody's Happy Nowadays!

Sunday, August 01, 2004

As the Buzzcocks memorably said "Everybody's Happy Nowadays!" and so it seems! There's Vale all loved-up with Gianluca and a new job. There's Dani having fun with her chums and a positive outlook. There's Jit fresh from a foreign holiday on her own for the first time. How much happiness can I take????

I'm really chuffed for them of course! But I think to myself that this is a pattern in my life that's repeating once more. Like, my acquaintances move onwards and upwards while I remain down hear, meeting the on the way up. Dunno. Maybe.

Anyhow, wrap yourself in cuddly happiness, if only vicariously, cuz you'll feel better!
