Retail Therapy & cool dreams...

Saturday, March 27, 2004

Suddenly realised today that I'd missed the release date for the Lou Reed live cd 'Animal Serenade', from the 2003 tour, which I happened to catch in my old home city of Coventry =)))). So... decided to hit the town on a Saturday, aka teenage mall day, lol! Got the Lou cd and was hoping to get Bataclan '72 also... but I forgot it was a limited edition! Anyhow, on my travels I bfound a couple of Clifford T Ward cd's that I hadn't got and eventually fpound Bataclan in HMV of all places! Guess they only had one copy (limited edition, natch) and no-one thought they would stock it! Mwahahahah!
Animal Serenade is absolutely top! I remember the show last May as an incredible experience and this cd (recorded in LA with no overdubs) is a complete gem of a reminder. All you EMO kids, nu-punk lovers, 80's revivalists, and just about anyone who's into intelligent guitar based rock owes a debt of gratitude to this guy. Forget that he's in his 60's. This guy wears his leather trousers with pride and rocks hard and soft, to taste. Buy this cd! (I wrote the forthcoming review on Amazon, lol).
Dreams? Shi-i-i-ite! Where to begin eh? There was this girl, she was attractive to me, but had various sores around her joints and personal hygiene wasn't her forte. Anyhow, I was enamoured of her. (Remember that I have missed out huge reams of dream). She had this ability to change from microscopic to full size with the aid of a coin and a talisman. We got it on, so to speak, but were studying and she wasn't even as academic as me. I believe that they tried to expel her before the exams... OK, so cut to the exam room. No-one tyold us how to sign into the exam or what have you, and there were these sleaze-ball thugs there too. So we ran around this sports hall and around the balcony's (yes, there were balcony's) twatting these bad guys and generally causing mayhem. I particularly recall pulling the wiring out of this machine and then spraying water all over it so as to electrocute people. Then I had such a COOL idea! I got these packs of washing powder and threw them over this wet dance floor so as to create a slippery mass of suds! Yay!
Ok, me and my beloved (as I thought) eventually escaped, but individually. I was in this bedroom all on my lonesome when my miniturised beloved whzzed through my bedroom window and landed next to me... What occurred next you can only imagine! But!!!!! outside the other window was this nasty, biker guy and his cronies... they miniturised themselves and headed for our window as we gathered our trousers round our ankles... Amazingly the biker guys managed to get through our window, while miniaturised, but re-sized to normal just in time to splat into the bathroom wall! Hoorah!
Cutting a long story short. All the obstacles had fallen by the wayside and true love was in my grasp... but she walked away.....
fuck! always the way... sniff

Squeezy sauce bottles

Thursday, March 25, 2004

Before Lau has a go at me for not blogging I thought I'd randomly jot some old bollocks or other.

When I want some comfort food I often reach for the fried egg sandwich, and did so t'other night. Lovely sarnies to take to bed, very unhealthy. So I have my tray in one hand and grab the squeezy sauce bottle in the other and have one of those 'mustn't drop the sauce' moments that precede the sauce dropping. Now those old glass bottles seemed pretty resilient to me, so how come the fun, squeezy ones explode when dropped from even three feet! (1 metre, lol)???? Sauce on the carpet, sauce up me leg, sauce all over the PC and keyboard six feet away!!!! bugger!
Met a nice young lady today =))))), similar age, single (I think), attractive, wicked sense of humour, local. Swoon! Who knows?... I'll keep you posted ;o)
Was in Leicester on Tuesday. Not such a bad place to be really. I had to carry out a risk audit at a service there. Was a nice day out really, an hour's bus ride through the country villages of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire, free lunch and nice people! Hoorah!
Dani arrived in Upsala ok. I know this cuz I got a txt from her. It's snowing there! (Surprise, surprise).
Anyone fancy sponsoring me to lose weight and drink less? I sooooo need an incentive? No money needed! Be creative!

Bosnian relief

Friday, March 19, 2004

Signed up with PalTalk last weekend so we could chat with Bulgarians about visas and stuff while Dani was here. I'm not a frequent flyer in chat-rooms these days but we had a bit of fun with this Bosnian guy in US who messaged us. We decided to give him some cyber! Hahahaha. We were in hysterics as this guy made love to us in v.bad english, convinced that we were an eastern european babe. At one stage we couldn't work out where his cock was! Anyway, here's a snippet that we saved for posterity (names changed):

(03/14/04 12:09 PM EST) kobac66: like 20min like

kobac66: or you finich
andy: no yet
andy: what about you
kobac66: cani go to set in my dick

rotflol! What else are you going to do on a rainy Sunday in Northampton eh? It made this guy's day anyhow so I feel like we did our good deed for the day =)))

Taking a day off to work on my assignment today. How come for two years now I've had good intentions of gettying ahead with the uni work, only to spend the weekend before it's due hammering the keyboard and racking my poor brain? Old habits die hard (II With A Vengeance, lol). Had a cool idea about my portfolio tho, I thought I could submit it on cd as a web site with hyperlinks to relevant documents from the narrative page (index), what you think? Maybe I can do this with some other Office package like Powerpoint or even Word, not sure. Any advice appreciated!

Looking forward to an exciting weekend of study, (maybe catch the rugby) and housework avoidance once more =/

btw have you heard all the talk about who is Belle de Jour in the papers, radio,tv? Ok, so it's great publicity for the site, but I kind've think it'll ruin the whole thing if the air of mystery and intrigue is lost. Why can't people leave things be? Always they have to chip away at things till they are destroyed. It's like telling a kid there isn't a Santa (or me St Trifon, lol)

Taxi Driver

Sunday, March 14, 2004

Where did this week go? Can't believe it's a whole week since I blogged. So lets see what's ocurred...
Tuesday my new boss's boss came to visit and I was pretty impressed. Makes a change really. The guy seems ok, I can talk to him, he seems interested and also seems to know a few things too :) maybe things will be looking up?
Dani has come to visit this weekend and I've been showing her the sights of Northampton. For example, Malt Shovel, The Fish, The Happy Gathering (no, that one's not a pub it's a Cantonese restaurant). I love the mixed fish starter at the HP, it's prawns and crabs and stuff all deep fried and served with a chilli dipping sauce and in the middle of the plate is a rose they have carved out of some vegetable =))) of course I had to order a bottle of sake to drink with the meal. The only quibble I have with sake is that you have to drink it out of those little egg-cups which I personally find a little frustrating. Nice place tho, good service, top nosh AND they even manage to get a gtaxi to take you home afterwards. Which segues (?) neatly into the blog title...
Yesterday I took Dani on a park-crawl, seriously. We did Abington Park then back into town and down to Beckets Park by the *cough*river*cough*. Weather was weird. Lovely and sunny for a while then pissing it down and we definitely got pissed on so escaped into Morrissons for a coffee and a bottle of vodka, lol. Here we meet our first problem. Being tired, wet and shagged-out we decided to order a taxi home to get ready for going out. First taxi company just laughed at me (bastard!) second one said we had to wait an hour and a half, third said no chance so reluctantly we trudged in awkward silence up the hill only to see a mini cab parked right in front of us doing sweet fa. Now due to stupid by-laws you can only use a mini cab if you've booked it first so thank fuck for mobile phones I thought as I dialled the number on the side of the cab and booked it, only to see it drive off, go round the block and come back to pick us up, crazy! So all ended reasonably happily, despite having to give the driver directions to get us home. Thankfully no complaints with service in the evening =)
What to do today? Was going to cook a big roast, which I may still do. Otherwise I guess it's vodka and a few games of Fuckerroo mayhap ;o)

A pill for every ill

Get me some of these!

Not fair how all my IM buddies have no ISP right now! I feel so fucking lone;ly!!!!

Had another mad dream last night. Not weird and surreal, just too real to be scary if you get my drift. This one had this section where I was going on the Eurotunnel thing and for some reason we couldn't get on. Then we were on top of these electric trains with 72,000 volts flying around us and had to get off. Then we missed the next train and this woman took me through this cavernous network of tunnels onto the tracks, before I had to climb all these white stairs up to a check in desk, only to find a tour guide waiting for me who guided me off to the train once more... only we were going down this crazy escalator covered in cling-film, when the bottom section started going upwards, causing a huge pile-up, then the earth started to end and I broke out of the cling film and slid down a shiny, silver pole. When I got to the ground it was like Coventry city centre... only more depressing, lol. That's just the bit I remember right now... crazy eh?

Not such a bad weekend so far. Yesterday Donna came down to do a bit of work and go for lunch. Good to see her and her hubby, Danny, I mean I don't often see colleagues at work. Heard from Sladja on Yahoo in the afternoon which was a surprise to me as she's normally not online till gone midnight. I finally found out how to send her birthday/xmas pressy which I hope to do tomorrow. It complicates things having friends in Serbia y'know. Next week Dani's coming over to visit as it's her birthday so I need to plan some entertainment. Probably restaurants, pubs, videos, wine and vodka, lol! Worst thing is I now HAVE to clean the flat, which is usually not my strong point, I am a bloke after all ;o) When I don't get visitors I just don't get round to cleaning the cave... would you?
Today I finally read those annoying BT/Yahoo emails I've been getting this week. I know they're in cohoots in saome way, but it pisses me off having to spend a couple of hours installing and configuring new shit that I'm not even going to use, grrrr... Seems I can still use the old IExplorer rather than the AOL-ish thing they want me to use and Messenger is the same apart from a slightly different pallette. Thing that really pisses me off is that I only configured all the spam filters and shit with BT a couple of months back and now I have to get my head around this new shit. Moan, groan, "wasn't like this when I was a lad", "I didn't fight in two world wars" etc.

Hope Carlala's feeling better and thanx to Lau for kicking my lazy ass, =p

Norwegian masturbation season news!

what other explanation could there be for this?

bugger me! it's 5.30am, been awake for a few hours and (very) oddly had some almost optimistic ideas about work and stuff so decided to get up and hit the orifice early. see? I DO try y'know. seriously, I have to find some really effective ways to recruit volunteers who a) are available in evenings b) are reliable/trustworthy c) can talk to stressed-out folk with mental health problems and their families on the phone. ok, so it maybe doesn't sound like such a difficult thing, right? WRONG! I've being trying for 4 years now (just count 'em!) and believe me they are very thin on the ground.

tart-boss update.... haven't heard a thing from her since I counselled her over the phone on friday evening (see below) it's fairly obvious that she couldn't give a toss as I she won't be line managing us in a few weeks. this kinda leaves lil 'ol andy in limbo. who the fuck does one get advice/support from? (like I ever got any from her or her predecessor =/ )

Thanks to Miss VV for always making me smile with her txt's, Carla for being... Carlala! (ha!), Dani, Donna, Sladja, Pat, Kathy and Katherine for being top chums =)))
