life and death are things you just do when you're bored

was a little think-headed and croaky today (not telling why) but it was an ok day I guess. God knows why I'm blogging this cuz it's sooooo boring! Anyhow, I had such a lovely guest-map coment from Lisa tonight, she's a top person IMHO, so that made me feel good. Also I've been txting with Sladja tonight! That always makes me happy cuz we can't IM these days as she hasn't got access to a PC right now.

Hey! I got a new job, lol. Our County Council have got me listed on their webste as the head of the Methodist Church in Daventry & Rugby! lol. They are sooooo incompetent I really wonder why I pay my council tax! ok, so it's cuz it's the law, I know, but you get my drift?

Tonight I had a market research girl (sounded rather cute) who was grilling me about my relationship status and what methods I used to get dates, lol. I don't mind doing those surveys cuz they keep me entertained for 5 minutes and the caller in a job. It's just when people are selling something that I get pissed off. Anyhow, this girl had a sexy voice! lol, and you know what a tart I am! heheehe

saturday night

gave Jan (an x) a buzz tonight, ust to say hi and the usual keeping in touch small-talk, you know? Anyhow, may be off out on Saturday night for a few bevvies and a Japanese meal. Now don't get excited chaps! We're just good friends! And anyway, some other bods will be there too so it's not like THAT sort of bevvie/meal thingummy!

I'm hop (pauses to take call from brother D who has recently moved back to UK from states) ing to see J next week *swoons* but I'll count my chickens after they're layed or whatever.

Nought else left to say except...

oh happy day!

ok, not really, it was ok I guess. A meeting thingummy at a hotel near the NEC all about helpline stuff. It was a decent day but bloody tedious for self and couple of others as we knew all the shit we were being briefed on already. *Andy wonders if he shows too much initiative?* anyhow, was fun to lock horns with my superiors who know sweet FA about practical shit. Also we had a presentation from the bod that got that job at the THA I went for way back in may. you may remember that, it was a one-off, national job to design and deliver training??? a 4 hour interview with two presentations? anyhow, nothing much was covered today which wasn't in MY presentation at the interview! but I bear no grudges.

The love life may not be completely stagnant as I received a txt from J today giving me hope of meeting up maybe next week. Fingers and various other appendages crossed ;o)

Over the weekend I finished a song! Hoorah! You can listen is you're that way inclined. I started it way back in May/June and got it 75% done, Sunday was the editing and mixing and fine tuning stuff. You may also have noticed that I tweaked the site a little and added a smidgen of content. I really wanted the site to be more "dial up friendly" but really would love a more sophisticated design. Unfortunately I'm not a html wizzard so am limited by (shock horror) Frontpage *hides face in shame*. One of these days I'll find the time to free myself from those nasty MS shackles and let loose the dogs of html! yay!

Unless anyone fancies lobbing a snog-related layout in my direction?????

What Exploding Dog Art Are You?

brought to you by Quizilla

All hail the conquering hero!

Having taken advice from Europe, Balkans and Boston I am still none the wiser about the art of courtship! All advice gratefully recieved!

The work thing went ok today. I found out that my funding is going to be doubled next year! yay! A whole £90,000 is earmarked for my service in 2004/5 so that's kinda good news. Boss is off sick cuz she fell off a horse ?!?!?! yeah! you tell me! and her boss has either resigned and left or is still here depending which version you believe! So it looks like it's back to lil ole me doing all the high-powered stuff, sheesh! *rolls eyes*. I hear my colleagues are none too happy about things right this mo and I can't say I blame them but I'm in no way going to rock the boat this time, anyway, when your boss has told you hat there are 7 complaints against her I guess I don't actually need to! right? So that's a bit of a success for moi.

Not sure how I stand on the relationship front right now. Maybe it's all in my head or maybe I'm too "gentlemanly", who knows? All I know is that there has been silence from the object of my affection. Yup, I know I'm old-fashioned and sad, but hey! I AM old! ok? I even keep one foot on the floor, lol.

Have a top weekend with snogs on top!

Huge, soppy grin

Ok chaps. Time to fess-up. I did indeed take Vale's advice and invite J round for a meal :o))). Was a lovely evening and I realised again how much I like her. *blushes* I promise I won't gush about her various admirable attributes cuz that would be x tedious for y'all. Suffice to say I am happy, warm, glowing chappy at the mo... until I find out there's no reciprocation I supose... No! lets not be negative! I must think positive!

darn! My (broken) intercom buzzer just buzzed and I boke the habit of a lifetime (see, thinking positively?) by dashing downstairs to see if it was for me, on the offchance it may be gorgeous young lady (see above), only to find it was some bloke who told me I was a "preferred customer, according to his records" lol, of gas and electric. Ok, sorry to dissappoint you, but there is no gas, yes that's NO GAS, in the entire block and secondly I have a card-meter for electric. Who was more dissappointed? The cold guy trying to sell stuff or me? You decide.

Last weekend went ok. More trainees than I was expecting and the course had to be extensively redesigned 'on the fly' but apart from being knackered it was a good weekend, even fun in parts! We had some students from Oxford come over on the Sunday to act as "mentors" and help with role-play but they were such brainy so & so's (I mean that in a nice way) that we actually let them facilitate for a few hours. I have to say I was mightily impressed by their intellect and skill so maybe that Oxford/Cambridge kudos actually does have some basis in truth?

okey dokey. Another happy birthday to Laura before I recommence daydreaming about my paramour. *contented sigh*

Derren Brown? What a wenker!

Everyone knows he was firing blanks, sheesh, how gullible can people be. The whole thing with magic is, unless I am very much mistaken, illusion! Like that's why they are called illusionists, geddit? Apparently the "Blaine of our lives" is coming out of his box soon... how do I know this? Cuz there was one inch in the "in brief" section of the local paper! hahahahaha! What would be really cool would be if they blocked up his sewage pipe and left him in their until he died a slow, humiliating death! yay! There is only one word for that guy... unctious, ok I could think of a few more....

My lil nephew is still in hospital and having an MRI scan, so that's a bit worrying for the family. He still hasn't got all the feeling back in his leg and his back is really painful. All that from falling off his bike. Anyhow, that's all I know, have to see if there's any permanent damage.

I managed to snaffle a ticket for the John Cale show, so hopefully that'll arrive soon. Maybe I'll go see the Damned again too, they're playing Northampton on 19th December (I think). Maybe I won't go up the front this year.... in 2002 I thought I was gonna die, it was kinda boisterous and energetic in extremis and I'm not so young as I was y'know.

Have to get up pretty darn early tomorrow and Sunday as it's the weekend I have to train 18 student types at the University in the art of telephone helplines. Two whole days of it! It'll be a challenge, especially as I've been out of the saddle for so long and also it's a new course so *shakes in boots* just have to hope I can pull it all together *teeth chatter and flutterbyes fly round stomach*

Pay day tomorrow!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!

Just thought I'd share that with you all. It's my first week back on the on-call rota so that's not helping the sleepy sleepy stuff. Apart from that life is cool. I decided to invite J for dinner, which will be next week as she's away this week. Good thing really as I will be training those pesky Uni types all weekend. I'm sure it'll be fun espcially the marshmallow and spaghetti towers :)))) But oh it'll be a looooonnnngggg weekend. So I have booked Tue & Wed off next week as a substitute weekend.

Also found out that John Cale is playing Shepherds Bush Empire in December so I'm reckoning I'll tootle along to that.

Nephew Reuben (ex USA) came a cropper onm his bike on Sunday by all accounts. Numb leg and dodgy head so sis-in-law is a little worried. I'm sure the little tyke will be fine. All part of growing up and all that.

Hope Vale's code in de dose gets better soon and mucho thanks for the lovely IM's :x

Hokey doke, I'm orft,

Don't I look cute?????

Go on, you know it brings out the maternal instinct in you! Sitting there all angelic and rosy-cheeked... go on admit it, you're broody! You want to cleave me to your bosom, right? Ok... perhaps not... but it was worth a try????

I've realized one of the myriad easons why I get no comments. The bleeding java pop-up haloscan thingummy isn't popping up! grrrrrrrr!!!!!

Had the darling boss-woman in my orifice today, ostensibly to, ahem, help me put the budget/service proposals together. Well after turning up 20 minutes late I got the full-on "everyone's against me" routine, obviously expecting something of a reaction. Of course she also couldn't resist talking about the SEVEN (count 'em) seven complaints ongoing against her, sheesh, I thought I was unpopular!!!! That's going some. Anyhow, as one could've suspected moi has to finish off the costings for the four options by Monday PM (I was asked to draw up the more official paperwork but reminded said boss-woman that I was lowly service manager and despite my specialist knowledge/experience It's not going to be my donkey on the tracks if excrement hits the expelair).

Generally i'm a fairly happy bunny this week. Decided not to worry unduly about stuff, as long as the rent's paid so to speak. Think I ought to invite J round for a meal soon to kinda reciprocate for the lovely meal/evening I had with her the week before I got ill. Whad'ya think?

Thanks to Lisa and Cindy for the lovely e-mails :o))))))

Happy World Mental Health Day! (if anyone's remotely interested)

Hey! Tomorrow is "International Day For National Disaster Reduction"!!! So get your dancing trousers on and paaaaaarrrrtttttyyyyy!!!!!!!! I'm all for smaller natural disasters, don't you know? I have one sitting in boiling water that I'm hoping will shrink and there's this other one that I've put on the Atkins Diet... oh and this last one I'm just sitting on to, like, squash it a little bit.

Friday is obviously World Mental Health Day which I'm guessing will be the usual damp squib... well I'm doing begger-all to mark it. Last year I stood in the Grosvener shopping centre for hours. I mean, I ask you? When you're out shopping the last thing you want to do is go and look at some leaflets on a table, right? I'll be the first to admit that I just want to scoot past those things with my bags of shopping rather than be A) preached at B)asked for money C)given a guilt-trip D)have a downer put on my nice day. mkay? In any case, most of the mental health services, mine included, are so short staffed that we just haven't got the resources for this stuff. I just hope my counterparts in the "big smoke" manage to get some decent TV/Radio coverage.

Today was reasonably cool... at least I have managed two days where my sleep allowed me to get to Uni/work on time and do a full day. In fact today was reasonably productive as it goes. Still have a humungus backlog... very elusive folk to contact... a boss with numerous complaints against them (apparently being investigated as we speak) and the dear Commissioning Team after costings for new service options which no-one else seems bothered about etc etc etc.

I found out last night that Dani has to find a new place to stay. That's a bummer and no mistake, so I guess I should think myself lucky? Nowt much else to report,

Pessimists live in the past
Realists live in the present
Optimists live in the future

So which one are you honey? My week has been like a toilet in a household with gastritis... shit most of the time with an occasional glimpse of clear water. lol. I really intended to blog this week but who wants to be a downer on the world eh? I mean that wins you absolutely no friends whatsoever, apart from folk like moi that is... and that's another story. I did... some work this week, but my sleep patterns are fucked, like I'm only getting to sleep at about 4 or 5am regardless of what I do the preceding evening. So it's obviously not conducive to a productive day at the orifice. Also it's less than motivational to be all alone in an office with 6.5 weeks more work than you had when you were stressed out before you were on the sick... and add to that the inability to contact anyone who may actually still be available to do a shift... Not that I'm knocking anyone, but it does seem that things have been left to go sprout-shaped in my absence... no contact with vols, no expenses paid, no bills paid, no rotas drawn up etc etc etc.... anyhow, you folks don't want to hear this stuff I'm sure.

So go visit the lovely Cindy! Yes she's back and she has a new job! One of the people that first inspired me to put a site up and someone who has always given advice and encouragement. She has cool content too. Carla has a new layout and Laura should be adored also ;o)

Oh, by the way, I had a culinary triumph tonight! I finally managed to have a TVP success! Chili sans carne to die for ;op So yay me!
