crazy horses! wyah! wyah!

finished my uni assignment about 7.30 this morning, yay! note to University of Leicester... it would really help if...

A) there was anything remotely relevant to the assignments in the recommended reading list
B) you actually imparted any relevant knowledge to the students prior to the assignments
C) the assignment titles actually made any sense, used something resembling good grammar and were not as vague as... something... you know... like.... vague...

Anyhows, please to be visiting these top people and particularly the photo-story thingummies in the gallery. Oh to be as entertaining and original as these guys.

Muchos thanks to Cin for the tips and Kathy for the Christine Lavin cd's :o)))

Ah well, just debating whether to have a kip for a couple of hours before dropping the assignment off, picking up the Teach Yourself Serbian book & Cd from the post office and hitting the office till 8pm... hmmm... why don't I get a normal job one of these days? ho hum

a lovely evening

don't look so shocked! ok, on second thoughts I can understand that reaction. I was really nervous about going out tonight... just because I don't get invited out very often and am not a natural socialiser. So it was great to have a lovely, calm, relaxed four hours with Joanna at her house. She cooked a nice meal and we had orange juice and a cup of tea and just talked for 4 whole hours! Might not seem like much but it was a lovely evening just talking in a civilised but fun way about religion, spirituality, dreams, childhood memories, feelings... all that stuff.

So a lovely evening with a lovely woman. awwwwww

makes up for being stuck in my flat all weekend doing houseworkk and Uni asignment... btw despite all the housework my flat looks, if anything worse than before I started! Explain that! Also, having defrosted my fridge, which I was quite proud of, when I turned the fridge on in the afternoon it just sat there and began pouring out smoke. Is there a moral of this story? You tell me. So here I am with a useless fridge, a messy flat and a still unfinished Uni assignment... ho hum.

btw if anyone can give me a clue as to how to customise my toolbars, please let me know.

the best way to smuggle drugs is.....

up a dog's arse! think about it... nobody's going to think it's suspicious when a sniffer dog gets interested right? I picked that up from an old VHS tape I played last night while stultified. Why isn't Alexei Sayle repeated instead of 70's and 80's stuff like Open All Hours, Fawlty Towers, Porridge, Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em etc etc etc. Those shows were phenomenally popular 20 - 30 years ago and I loved them at the time... but I've moved on and so has the rest of the world! Half of the "jokes/situations" must be a total mystery to anyone under 30. I guess I watch them out of nostalgia and then can't see what the attraction was until I remember that I was a lot younger and the world was so different, not just technology but attitudes. What would be considered rascist, sexist or offensive to people with physical disabilities or mental health issues today formed the entire basis of some of these shows. So I'm campaigning for a re-run of the 1998 "Alexei Sayle Merry-Go-Round" so we could enjoy again stuff like:

"the Alcoholic Psalm; ...maketh me lie down in strange postures...."

hahahha, ok, maybe that's only funny to me

I defrosted the fridge yesterday (and today) it was horrendous! huge blocks of permafrost containing extinct life-forms which I made into a rather tasty veggie shepherd's pie... remains of this are sitting patiently beginning to fester as I dry the fridge out ready for the "switching on the fridge ceremony" scheduled for this afternoon.

Ah well, I guess I should start to do some more to the Uni assignment *rolls eyes to ceiling* as it's due in on 31st and I finally got hold of a book that's vaguely relevant to the subject yesterday. Mind you I'm sure I'll be able to waste a bit more time posting some new cam captures and wondering how I can learn how to design a halfway decent site and go down the shop for milk and make the bed and vaccuum and .......

dead bodies under the floorboards!

ever have that experience where you have a rotten smell in your flat and you don't know where it's coming from? it's happened on and off... and on again! I took the rubbish out hours ago but the smell is still around. I guess I'll just have to do some MORE housework and turn the flat upside down until I find the festering scrap of whatever it is >o/ or wait till winter to arrive and hope the cold helps.

the gig on monday was ok. crowd very apathetic, amazing for a "homecoming" gig. Grim Northern Social get the seal of approval, El Hula were... ok, Captain Soul were obviously about to be pushed by their record company as they did a very short, immaculately soulless performance - ending the night on a low point. anyhow, stay positive boy! GNS have their cd out later in the year and they have some balls... I actually apologised to them as they hoiked their gear out the side door and let them know that at least i had appreciated the set and the fact that they had driven down from shetland or wherever to be greeted by a bunch of unappreciative, rich-kid ingrates with no passion for music whatsoever.

Off to the Soundhaus

Captain Soul are playing at the Soundhaus tonight with Grim Northern Social and El Hula so one is off out in a minute or so. Only £5 and three bands... although I'll miss first one I reckon. I've only heard one track by them but it's a top tune... apparently they are a local band who are big errr... somewhere and may get big here.... err... sometime! lol (seem to have heard that somewhere before). Anyhow despite my ongoing tendency to become a hermit and fall out with everyone including myself I gotta get out of the flat!

Pity I have to get up so damn early tomorrow... have to get to Peterborough for a team meeting and someone has decided to make it bloody difficult to travel there from Northampton. I could just about do it by train but it's actually slightly quicker by bus, bleugh. Buses just don't do it for me... at all! Noisy, slow, no toilets etc etc etc.

Last night I had to go to work cuz I had a meeting with the director of the local Samaritans. It was ok I guess but I didn't get a lot out of the deal. They have the name, image, recognition and old-boy network on their side... ho-hum it was worth a try I guess.

Ah well, orft I goes to look old and fat at the gig ;o/

well pardon me for giving a shit!

it appears that one is once a looney always a looney and thus not to be trusted. so I have come to the conclusion that I should just not give a shit and stick a huge finger in the air to the world. (well adjusted online chums excepted, obviously)

gggrrrrrrrrr i'm off to score some crack at a neo-nazi meeting as usual.... (andy deciding to live down to the stereotype certain christians have labelled him with)

John Cale gig

Travelled down to london on monday night and got the tube to highbury... realising (as usual) that london is bloody confusing... I spotted a guy wearing the famous Andy Warhol "banana" on his shirt and asked him where the gig was. It turned out that it was right across the street! There was a queue before I got there but I managed to get a pew (yup, it's a church!) in 2nd row (right behind me old Lou-buddy Julie). There was a full band and that was awesome... specially in an old church with the light going down through the stained glass...
They did some rockier stuff too like Model Beirut Recital, Gun and Pablo Picasso (never got called an ass-hole, lol) plus Heartbreak hotel. JC had an ancient flat-topped Les Paul and seemed to really enjoy himself. It was pretty bizarre to hear that stuff in church... plus the second rendition of Venus In Furs I've heard this year! woooo!!!!!

Journey home was going soooo well till we were just 10 mins outside northampton and the train just stopped. apparently the points had failed... grrrrr so I was stuck on this deserted train in the middle of nowhere for a whole hour!!!!!!! grrrrr grrrr grrrrr

Had a txt from sladja today! yay! apparently the holiday job didn't worlk out and she is now in Herceg Novi on holiday! lol, after a week in Dubrovnic. wish I was over there as well.... sigh

Been working kind've late shifts this week partly so I can catch the evening volunteers. It's ok as I get to have a lie-in... just a good job that I have no social life! lol

better eat sometime tonight so....

Ask Professor Rumsfeld

In search of enlightenment as I take a day's TOIL I stumbled upon this repository of wisdom.

I'm off to see John Cale in London tonight at the Union Chapel which looks like a cool venue... think it's a former place of worship which is now a homeless charity. They get some income from hiring the venue for gigs, conferences and such. This is the third time I have seen John Cale and I'm hopeful that this will be the first time he has a full band with him. Previously he has been completely solo or with just a couple of musicians... anyway I line in hope and will let you all know how it goes.

I spent hours with the Polyphonic Spree DVD on sunday... it's so cool and the live versions are much better (certainly more interesting) than the studio versions. With my birthday coming up on the 26th august... imagine my happiness to find that TPS are playing coventry actually on my birthday! Hoorah! la la la, la la la la la... etc Brother and nephew will be back from the states by then so I'm hoping we can all troll off for a top night in the old home town (and original concrete jungle)

hokey dokey, i'm gone

You Greasy Cooker!!!

So YOU tell ME why I am spending my saturday night cleaning years of grease from inside my oven? Go on! Tell me! I should be out on the town shmoozing at some retro rock night or sweating in front of some scuzzy local band... but oh no... cleaning the oven, that's me, it is. The fumes from Happy Shopper Oven Cleaner at 200C are pretty rad tho.......

Thursday was cool at the Polyphonic Spree gig. They are definitely an experience! :o)))) Shame I missed em last year when I was shagged out, but hey, I'm sure they'l be back based on how the gig went. The version of Bowie's 5Years near the end was a great surprise and everybody sang/screamed all the words... orgasmic! lol

Thanks to Jules for the comment, Vale for being gorgeous ;P and a snog to Sladja... wherever you are....

and.... I'm awaiting the brand new version of Raptured.co.uk .... go Carla!

Ugly Counters!

Not happy that Bravenet have decided to mess with their counter code seemingly just to annoy me! Why they do that??? Think they want me to give them some money or something for nice pretty ones :/ Accept my apologies for the ugly excuses for counters that appear below!

Bumped into Senita in Stechford this afternoon. Spooky coincidence as I haven't seen her in years. She's a Team Leader in Coventry now and seems happy (and still looks good too :p). Stopped off in Cov for a quick drink and a chat which was cool and I may go visit her sometime... the offer's there anyhow.

I decided not to go for the Birmingham job and it's just as well cuz I hear that it's been given to someone who's being made redundant (I had an inkling about that, from a rumour I heard and put 2 + 2 together). At least i saved myself the work of filling in the form and the shiity feeling of being turned down.

I gotta get gone soon cuz I'm off to the Roadmender to see Polyphonic Spree! yay!!!!

Technology! You fail me now!

Buggeration! I made a special note to record Lou Reed on TOTP2 tonight, so after a reasonable day at work I trundle off home and fire up my PCTV software in readiness. Unfortunately I'm "on-call" this week so the mobile (which is also playing up) kept on ringing, so when Lou came on I thought I could just press the remote and all would be well.... nope! The sound was gone! Warggghhh! So frantic scrabbling with cables, inputs, settings and reboots with a call from a volunteer who'd had a shitty call, later... and I'd missed the two tracks! Grrrrrrr!!!! Wish I believed in god so I could tell him to f**k off! Anyhow I should console myself with the fact that they were obviously pretty nondescript performances... not surprising given the *cough* wild TOTP atmosphere. Ho hum.

I have to send a special snog to Vale who sent me her signed Lou Reed cd! A lovely surprise and kinda unexpected... awwwwww :o))))

A day in Stechford awaits tomorrow then a dash back on the train followed by the Polyphonic Spree at the Roadmender in the evening, which should be cool.

Taking a stack-dump

That just about sums up the end of last week. I won't go into details here but thanks to carla for being sweet and to vale for making me smile last night ;o)

Boredom led me here this morning, the site rocks and permanent linkage is assured methinks.

For the cheese lover in your life maybe you should go here

Click here for hot lesbian pussy action

This shitty E-Machines pc threatened to die last thursday by refusing to boot, telling me it couldn't find the OS then taking a stack-dump! Bastard! Spent huge swathes of time making backup copies of stuff on cdr just in case :oE I wouild be sooo majorly pissed-off if I lost any of my songs like when my hard drive topped-itself last autumn.

Just to put the frosting on the turd that is my life, my main guitar-amp is pissing me about, something wrong with the input AND the f***king power supply I think!!! GRRRR!!!! I have certain options I guess...

1. heave it through the window... let it bounce back off the double glazing and knacker my kneecap... open the window and heave it out onto the street.
2. get drunk and try to repair it, electrocute myself and die in a "rock n' roll" way... or maybe that would be more Roy Hull???
3. pay some guitar shop guy to repair it

In the absence of a psychic cabbage or whatever (don't even ask) please post your advice in a comment.

thanks and snogs

Why do those guys in London keep ringing me up to sell me rice??????

For months now I keep getting phone calls from indian guys in London wanting to seel me rice, like I'm a restaurant or summat. I wouldn't mind but I've lost count of the amount of times I have told them that I am a white guy living in a one-bedroom flat in Northampton and much as I like rice... I'm neither going to buy it by the sack nor set up a restaurant in my living room. First I was polite... then after a month or so I got a little tetchy... then I became assertive... now I just ignore the phone, so sorry if you've called me recently... yes I AM being rude! Just not at you ;o)

Gotta go bed
