Bloody hot!

Feeling a little more human toady after my huge moan... but I did feel like crap so I'm not apologising! My back and neck hurt so bad on Thursday & Friday that it even hurt to swallow! Weird or what? Plus it's so hot and that doesn't help.

I took some TOIL on friday so I could have a lie-in and work on the Uni assignment... but my phone rang at, like 7.20am... it was the mother feeling lousy and needing to talk. Well, you gotta answer the phone if it's yer mother I guess.

Today was ear-marked for the guitar and so I spent 7 hours finishing Albatross (hehehe) and posting it on here. Hopefully I'll do some more of that tomorrow. It's a shame I have missed the Noesuch Island beer festival this weekend but I am just too shagged out and anyway it's too short notice to phone around and I'm not going on my own. Soooo....

It's another night watching Casualty with a bottle of Argentinian red! Yay!!!!!

btw visit cindy... she has some v.funny links ;o)

I've been to Accrington and back!

Yup, I survived and can tell the tale too! Was tired and shagged out all last week and when that happens I get irritable and ratty as I explained to Sladja and a few others. Think that's the main reason I bailed out of the conference... before I let rip with the verbals.

Got to Accrington ok with no delays or hitches and took some photies of a bored, fat andy watching the world go by (see below). "I am the passenger, I ride, I ride" etc etc.Accrington was ok. The helpline visit was cool, their txt support thingummy is sound and looks pretty straightforward technically and training-wise so hopefully that'll be a goer for my lil helpline. I did something of a talk on mental health and self harm but not one of my best... well I didn't have a lot to go on preparation-wise... didn't know how much they knew already, size of group, time available etc etc etc but I think I went down ok *sniggers and thinks of georgina, lol*

Then it was off to Leeds to see Jit. Got rather pissed friday night due to not having drunk hardly any water all day and eating at, like, 10.30pm. So Saturday was a grumpy, hungover shopping day in Leeds. God I felt crap! Nice city tho and the Borders store is cool! Wish we had one in Northampton. Then it was Eurovision on Saturday night with pizza, great salad and, you guessed it, a rather nifty bottle of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon, 2000. I love Eurovision! Well I guess we all have our perversions ;o) the UK song was appalling especially the performance so not surprising that we have equalled Norway's record for getting no points from any of the 25 countries!!!! More hilariously, the songwriter was interviewed on Radio5 30 mins after the show and maintained that the song was great, the performance was great and the no votes issue was a political protest against Tony Blair's stance on Iraq! hahahahahahaha Loser! Martin Isherwood! I mean you! You just wrote a shit song and picked shit performers to sing it. ok?

Sunday was travelling home really. At Manchester I bought a couple af cd's. The new Lou Reed collection, NYC Man which is playing right now. All the tracks from his 35 year career that are included have been remastered and remixed direct from the original masters by Lou, and I have to say that it's sounding good to me, biased tho I am.

Also got the new Maria McKee cd as I've liked all her solo ones. Don't ask me why, they're not great really, but she has a certain something, you know? Why analyse it if you enjoy it? right?

On my travels again

I'm travelling up to Acrington today (that's why I'm up at this ridiculous hour) by train to look round a helpline that uses txt msgs, (I have to give them a talk on self harm/self injury while I'm there). Then I go on to Leeds where I'm staying on till Sunday. Why am I telling you this? Dunno. An apology for not blogging I guess.

This week's been ok, mostly. It was geat to hook up with claire on monday... now my mind's gone blank... errrr what else have I done???? Oh, I know, bloody work!!!!! hmmmm. I've missed a big deadline but it really isn't moi's fault, honest, but I really hate missing deadlines. On the positive side I've been a fairly good boy. Have laid off the bevvies a bit and got a little sleep, not that you'd notice with 14 hour working days like tuesday *yawns*.

Yesterday I was at a "conference" near the NEC. Lord knows why I went (ok, I do know why really) as it was hardly a major event. The venue sucked immensely (food was atrocious), I didn't want to be there, only good point was a couple of the speakers who were "from the heart" as it were. I actually felt really sorry for all the speakers as the room was totally innapropriate for the event.. like there were windows behind the speakers so the light dazzled the delegates, there were annoying lights on the walls which had the same effect, the projector was in front of the screen which incidentally, was too small for overheads and powerpoint stuff to be legible, disabled access and toilet facilities weren't great, it was awkward to get to by public transport (ok to B'ham Int, but then you try walking to this poxy hotel, like signs and directions would help maybe???? instead of a £5 taxi to go 500 yards as crow flys, sheesh) moan moan moan moan moan

Oh well, better log onto the rail website and checkout my connections for today.

Slap my wrists!

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while... just busy busy busy!

The comedy gig was great. Nice and intimate with candles on the tables etc. All good NHS bashing (realism) which was fun. Shame I had to go on my own but there you are. I could tell that most of the audience worked for the NHS, they just have that 'look' you know? Though not many of them actually owned up to it heheheeh. Maybe I'll post a few gags one day but I would hate to offend or scare anyone ;o)

Then on thursday of coiurse I got to see Lou Reed again!!!! My hero!!!! Seriously, I've been a big fan since I was about 13 so it's a big deal to me. The gig was brilliant, load of old songs that he does not normally play, and new versions of them also. Amazing to think that he is 62 now! That tai chei must have something I reckon. The female cellist was amazing as she took some of the wild guitar solos and made them her own. Amazing! Also, Lou is still playing Telecasters.... and you KNOW how much I lurrrvvvveee them! Right?

Bumped into loads of people I have not seen for years and generally had a hoot! Pity the recording I tried to make didn't quite work out. Ho Hum.

A huge snog and a thank you to the lovely Vale for the 2004 calendar she made for me. It's so lovely when people take the time to make a present for you, right? Yes! You know it is! and of course she is gorgeous also....

Not to forget Sladja who is my beautiful friend in serbia, what would I do without you? eh? Stay gorgeous and say hi to Pinky.

And a big hello to Kathy in Boston. Glad you like the poster. I met a lady from Boston at Northampton station tonight! Small world eh?

Work is... work. I'm a little pissed off and tired, but what else is new eh?

Gotta work all Saturday so... roll on July! Maybe I get a rest then? eh? eh?

Welcome to your new home Pinky!

Pinky the cute little white mouse has moved into his new home with Sladja (lucky little fellow) and can look forward to a happy life instead of his intended career path as a "guinea pig" if you get my drift.

Back to work yesterday which went fairly well but it's going to be sooooo busy for the next month. :/

Tonight I'm going to see Dr Phil Hammond (no I'm not ill! Well no more than usual) who is a comedian. He's performing at the Roadmender so I just have to hope it's not cancelled like the Diamond Dogs gig the other week (pull yer finger out RM and get me my refund! grrrrr). Should be fun fun funny :o)

Then tomorrow it's off to the mothership in Coventry cuz I get to see Lou Reed again :o)))))) Prepare to get bored silly when I return on friday.

Gotta go to the orifice now to meet the new boss so....

Lou Reed visits Coventry shocker!

Hullo chaps. Just found out by accident that Lou Reed is playing Warwick Uni Arts Centre this Thursday!!!!! How cool is that? Imagine if you will the rock legend that has meant most to your good self since age 11 playing a little venue in your home town... then you may comprehend the magnitude of what I impart! Needless to say I ordered a ticket im-major-mutley if not sooner an canceled, like life itself! in order to attend!!!!!!!

First time I saw Lou was at B'ham NIA in 1996. Second time at B'ham Symphony Hall (phenomenal acoustics!) in 2000 and now in dear old Coventry! Hurrah!x3. I never expected to EVER see Lou live as he is such a legend and a trifle older than meself. But here I am on the threshhold of my third Lou gig as he moves further into his 63rd year. You tell me about any other guys who can still wear leather trousers, rock out on feedback, remain relevant AND retain his dignity? Well I'm chuffed to little mintballs in any case!

Talking of which... a big snog goes out to Lex for IMing me and making me smile, nay! laugh already! Hope you get your own site soon s I can give you good linkage ;o)

I gave a training session to Uni students last monday and e njoyed the evening... especially when we were discussing masturbatory helpline callers and a trainee said they would "give him the choice of 1min or 5mins! hahahahahahhahahaha! I love this job!

Poor old Jit got banned from the local Wetherspoons last week. heheheh. To her credit she cannot recall the incident, which in my book deserves a gold star for effort! ;op

Today I got my bicycle out, like twice! Yes, I'm trying to lose a little flab. Ok, ok, I know I "don't look fat" in my clothes.... but I saw myself in the mirror at the end of my bed in Dover... and I beheld.....
Buddha! Yes! Fuckin Flabby-Arsed Buddha! One kind friend tried to appease me by telling me that "Buddha is a nice person" but I don't know about you... I would rather have ghandi's figure than buddha's anyday!

Hatemail and responses to today's straw poll "I want to be... 1) Thin like Ghandi 2) Fat like Buddha" to donald.rumsfeld@whitehouse.com

Hey kids! It's a BH weekend! Woah Yeah! So why did I spend 6 hours working today and plan to do my Uni assignment tomorrow? eh? eh? eh? Buggeration!

Any-road-up, thanx to Carla for being nice to me, awwwww Northampton is a nice place hun!
